One bike, thirteen states, nineteen days, 6,208 miles and a lot of gas

On June 2nd I left Auburn, AL for a three week solo motorcycle trip and headed west. My goal was Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, an area I have been fascinated with since childhood but have never visited. I feel there is no better way to explore new places than from the seat of a motorcycle so since I had a little time to burn, I loaded up the bike and pointed it towards the setting sun. The map (clickable links) above shows my track for the trip (I went counterclockwise) and the little tent icons indicate my camping spot each night.

I kept a journal as an aid to my aging memory and took a few pictures. Through the words and images on the following pages I hope to convey some sense of what I experienced during the trip. Obviously, I can only brush the surface but this is a good thing. If this were not the case then there would be no real reason for you to take a trip of your own. Get out and see the world! Life is short, you only live once and the journey IS the destination.

This writeup is for family and friends and if you enjoy reading it a fraction as much as I enjoyed the actual trip, the work will have been worth it.
